The May 5 dinner, held at Congregation Shearith Israel, referred to as The spanish language-Portuguese synagogue, was designed to highlight creatures along with other meals which are kosher but rarely consumed by observant Jews, for example oxtail, locusts, quail eggs and organ meat from calves, chickens, ducks along with other creatures. The so-known as Halakhic Dinner combined the exotic dishes with Jewish teachings about the subject and it was brought through the synagogue’s rabbi, Meir Soloveichik. Similar dinners have occurred in past years.
Following the dinner, about 20 people reported intestinal distress, based on Vos Is Neias, an Orthodox blog and news site. Your blog reported Dani Klein, who runs the YeahThatsKosher blog and attended the dinner, as stating that his wife examined positive following the dinner for campylobacter, a bacteria connected with raw or uncooked chicken, unpasteurized milk products or contaminated water, chicken or produce.
A spokesperson for that city’s Department of Health, Christopher Burns, told JTA, “We’re looking into and dealing using the synagogue.”
Klein rejected to become questioned about them.
