I only got one message about the offensiveness of this fact, regarding the tags, which I changed. The following ‘fact’ has been deleted.

FACT: Every single trans woman, without exception, were assigned the name “Bernard” at birth

I then got a message from the original submitter stating:

The commenters are entirely right - this injoke** of my local trans community is, without context and with the wording used*, it’s transphobic.

I don’t think this community should have such things present, and if I can figure out a re-wording that words, I’ll check with others before submitting.

* Long story, amusing origin, and adopted now and taken to farcical levels, rendering any question about one’s OLDNAME completely pointless :P

** technically the wording is such that bernard should have been stated as a noun for one’s OLDNAME

Please, if you find something offensive, send an ask about it. We have over 700 posts and 10,000 followers and it is literally impossible to look at the reblog comments on every post. If you send an ask I’ll edit it if possible, or delete the post. Keep in mind this is by queers/for queers so if it seems like your issue is with the sarcasm of a ‘fact’ than the fact won’t be deleted - basically, it’s case by case basis, but I will ALWAYS delete and apologize for something offensive. I don’t want anyone to feel left out or targeted, ever.

In this case I thought the joke was ludicrous enough to not be offensive. I apologize for posting it, and thank the submitter for following the comments and letting us know. Everyone have the queerest day~
